It’s The Weekend - Move Your Body
The Healing Structure: Because Your Body Didn’t Come With a Manual
“Wolff’s Law Walks Into the Weekend…”
Hey posture people — we made it to Friday! 🎉
By now, you’ve probably caught yourself mid-slouch at least a dozen times, taken a few posture resets (maybe while pretending to check your phone), and realized… wow, my body has been listening this whole time.
Here’s the deal: your bones, muscles, organs, and nervous system are paying attention to how you move (or don’t move) all the time. That’s Wolff’s Law in action: your body reshapes itself based on the loads and stressors you give it.
So let’s give it something GOOD to adapt to this weekend.
🔥 Weekend Challenge: Move with Intention (and Humor)
Your mission (should you choose to accept it):
Get outside. Breathe deeply. Do one active thing that reminds your body you are not, in fact, a couch.
Here’s what qualifies:
🏔 Go for a hike (Kelowna folks, Knox Mountain is right there. So is Kalamoir. Bonus points if you throw in some posture resets at the top.)
🚲 Ride your bike (Remember what it felt like to be a kid? You were breathing like a champion and didn’t even know it.)
🧘🏽♀️ Take your mat to the park – or just stretch under a tree and look up at the clouds. (Great for posture. Great for sanity.)
🚶♀️ Walk downtown with a friend or your dog. Try walking with your spine tall like someone just complimented your outfit.
🌲 Forest bathing, but make it funny: Breathe deeply, take off your shoes, look up at a tree, and tell it your stress. Nature’s free therapy.
👨👩👧👦 Play with your kids. Seriously. Get on the grass. Run around. Let them teach you how to move again. (They are tiny biomechanical geniuses.)
💨 Bonus Breathing Reminder:
Remember, air is still free… for now.
So take advantage. Deep, slow breaths = better oxygenation, nervous system regulation, and a free nervous system reset.
Tie it back to posture:
- The more you move upright, the better your lungs work.
- The better your lungs work, the less stressed you feel.
- The less stressed you feel, the more fun you'll have doing any of the above.
- This is how you sneak health into your weekend without even calling it exercise.
Final Reminder:
You don’t have to do it all. Just do one thing this weekend that gets you upright, outside, and a little more conscious of how you move.
Your body is adapting either way. Let’s give it something good to adapt to.
And if you’re still not sure where to start?
Go outside. Take a breath. Repeat.
Air: still free. Use generously.
See you Monday with more ways to move smarter.
